How does the first consultation take place?

Interview

All information on the person’s health status is required to make a correct analysis. Personal and family medical history. List of medications with their dosage and how many times a day. Tx-rays, CT, MRI, blood test etc… Signs and symptoms you feel, the frequency and duration of episodes. If female, date of last menstruation, etc… It is not mandatory, but the more information you provide, the more the professional will be able to treat you better.

Types of analysis

  • Tongue analysis: The tongue reflects “the real state” of the person.
  • Pulse analysis: It is possible to locate the imbalance and know its nature.
  • Some other tests can be done like: blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, capillary return, blood sugar, auscultation, lymph node palpation, pain region palpation, joint assessment, etc.

Treatment

  • After collecting the person’s data, the acupuncturist will analyze and perform the energy balance to apply the technique that fits the patient’s condition.
  • Patient consent and comfort is important. Instruct your acupuncturist to make you more comfortable. Notify him of any discomfort.

General advice

  • After the treatment, it is advisable to rest to have a better effect and to avoid large meals.
  • Avoid mental and physical stress
  • Do physical exercises and respect your body’s limits.
  • Protect yourself from the wind and cold. Avoid temperature changes (hot yoga, sauna, hot tub bath, etc…).
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water.
  • Have a balanced diet.
  • Avoid screens before bed.
  • Sleep well.

No two people are exactly alike, and there is a risk of accidental puncture of a vessel or nerve. If such an event occurs, you may experience bruising or a sensation of shock that can persist for anywhere from one week to a month. It’s important to inform your acupuncturist if this occurs. If there is any skin elevation, gentle massage can help improve local circulation.
